SPOOKY STUFF !
The amazing thing is that I entered the test request on my lab work that found this. A CBC. Yes I did. Here's how .... My internist was sending me to the lab for a cholesterol blood panel to see if I had, on my own, reduced dangerously high inflammatory markers over the past year. That I did do, remarkably so, without the suggested statins. I did it with lots of anti-inflammitory vitamins, some herbs and spices (13) and by totally changing my eating habits.
Anyhow, as I used to work for many years in a medical laboratory, I added a CBC to the labwork and drew a yellow line across the page just like she did on all the other tests. No one would ever know I added it. Until.. I went to see my Doctor - The GOOD news - The cholesterols were now within a normal panel. The BAD news. "Who ordered this CBC?" she said, "You should never do this ... you should have called me. But, why did you do it? (Because I had Swine flu last year and I wanted to see if my blood count had settled down since that infection).... Oh Oh, BUSTED! Well the CBC didn't look good and the short of it is it was repeated in three weeks - still not good, then 11 vials of blood and a bone marrow biopsy and aspiraiton, flow cytometry, ya de ya de ya....lots of tests, and a diagnosis... Primary Myelofibrosis with a positive Jak2 mutation and a few other blood cell things goin' on too.
That is spooky thing #1. I ordered the test that discovered this might be happening, and lead to the many other tests confirming it.
Spooky thing #2 is I had randomly chosen a book out of 11 from a dear friend's house. Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese (Now one of my all time favorite books besides Shantaram) I read the back cover and it looked good. (Don't read any further if you are going to read the book!) Oh well... It really don't think it will spoil the book, you can read on.... Anyhow I had seen my (Oncologist) Dr. on the 2nd visit and he said "Well I think it could possibly be a myeloprofliferative disease," he named three and Myeloid metaplasia (which is quite rare) also know as primary myelofibrosis (which I was later diagnosed with) was one of them.
Lo and behold, as I am reading the book, the primary character is diagnosed with this "condition" in Addis Ababa. How weird is that?
Honestly, that is when I "knew" I had it. You don't just sit and read about a rare disease that most people have never heard of, that the doctor just mentioned to you that you might have, in a random book you pick up. It was spooky!
Deepak Chopra said "There are no coincidences ... they are only portals to miracles". So what do you think the miracle is here?
T'is yet to be discovered
Pay Attention!
"Spooky Stuff" as you call it is very real ...wake up calls, warnings. YOU ordering your own blood test, and discovering this is no accident. Nothing to take lightly. And reading about your own diagnosis in the book (novel) you were reading. Know that you are operating on a very high frequency and you can use THAT frequency to facilitate healing. Stay focused, stay positive seek support and love, and good medical knowledge from several sources.
